Bounce was recently commissioned by Austin Art in Public Places for Pick Fair Park Recreation Center in Austin, Texas. The location, a small decommissioned fire house, was re-purposed into a micro gym/recreation center for grade school children. Forty-one colorful, laminated, die-cut prints, were installed throughout the micro-gym and in the adjoining courtyard. The imagery on each print is derived from artwork made from recycled plastic bags. The resulting artworks reveal the hidden beauty of the overlooked, disposable materials that continually pass through our hands. Color, light and pattern are employed in ways that engage the viewer and energize the space. The choice of everyday materials-the ubiquitous plastic bag- is a celebration and elevation of common things, inviting us to re-frame the ordinary and to see the potential for the extraordinary all around us.
The die-cut laminated prints are made with archival inks, are permanently sealed virtually unbreakable.
