Laguna Gyre

70 ft diameter temporary, site specific installation in Austin TX. This installation called attention to the North Pacific sub tropical Gyre which is an area in the ocean 1,000 miles wide choked with plastic trash that has been accumulating for the past 50 years. The bags used in this installation- obtained from the manufacturers- were seconds bound for the dumpster. When Laguna Gyre was de-installed, the bags were recycled by a service organization (The Teenage Eco Warriors) to create a booth for Austin Green Art, colorful totes and purses, plastic bag Tu-Tus and an award winning line of original designer dresses.
